Get the Support you deserve

12 Step programs work.  They are applied to our lives in an adaptable way from the original alcoholics anonymous program.  There are many offshoots of that original program, only used as a model here, for those who's lives have been affected by an alcoholic, shopaholic, a pain and illness, and there's even a 12 step for Liars Anonymous! Click the links below to see what the 12 steps are and how Chronic Illness  and Chronic Pain Anonymous (CPA) can help you change your mindset of illness and pain toward healing with compassion and support from those who understand.

These programs teach us how to think about our wellness in a new and different way that takes our minds from pain and illness to gratitude and action.  Whether you're in remission but left with "Medical PTSD, or still suffering from chronic illness/pain, this program can help bring peace and joy into your life.  Chronic Illness  and Chronic Pain Anonymous (CPA) is a fellowship of men, women, and young from all walks of life who live with chronic pain and chronic illness. The members come together to share their experience, strength, and hope, and to support each other. They learn how to discover serenity and a meaningful life while living with the disabling effects of their physical health conditions. The only requirement for membership is a desire to recover from the emotional and spiritual debilitation of chronic pain and chronic illness. There are no dues or fees for CPA membership.

CPA was founded in 2004 in Baltimore Maryland. The fellowship today has meetings worldwide. Along with local face-to-face groups, CPA has meetings that can be attended virtually from anywhere, which makes it possible for all members to participate. We invite you to explore the website, attend a meeting, read the literature, and discover how CPA can support you to live peacefully, joyfully and comfortably with yourself and others when living with chronic pain and chronic illness.

Suppressing science and multiple peer reviewed studies on persisters has become acceptable.  The cabal of Lyme deniers have paved the way to deny patients effective treatment, and left the to tortured by multiple infections.

Lyme is known as the "great imitator" because it mimics diseases like MS, Lupus, ALS, Alzheimer's, CFS, ADD, learning difference, Dementia and epilepsy.  Left untreated it can cause other diseases including certain cancers to develop as well.  Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt studied 237 women with breast cancer and 100% of them tested positive for Lyme disease. Not all Lyme patients studied had breast cancer. (Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, Lyme Summit 2018) Dr. Neil Spector, Duke researcher and famous Cardiologist discovered that a high number of breast cancer patients had bartonella.

It takes an average of at least 2 years and 5 doctors to get correctly diagnosed.  Some patients like me report it's taken decades and dozens of doctors across multiple states to get the right help for Lyme.  The longer infection lingers the more expensive it is to treat and the harder it is to reach remission.  Don't ignore a patients' report of pain, flu-like symptoms and things like neck stiffness, cognitive difficulties, mental illness, IBD and fatigue.  Treating symptoms furthers the spread and damage from Tick-borne illness.  The worst thing to tell a patient that I've heard in my own experiences are, "I don't know how to help you" or "you are the healthiest sick person I know".  All these things cause "medical PTSD" when a patient is told their illness is psychosomatic, in their head, or they just want attention.  Patients are left to not trust medical authorities that can lead to self treating, lose hope, feel helpless and potentially lead to suicide.

"There is a higher rate of suicide in patients whose brains have higher inflammation, Dr. Robert Bransfield."  Leading psychiatrist in treating the neuropsychiatric cases in Lyme patients.

"Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections are complex illnesses which can be difficult to diagnose and challenging to treat effectively. This is especially true for patients with chronic Lyme disease or multiple infections." (ILADEF)

Kids education and games

LDA President Pat Smith says, "Children ages 5-14 are at the greatest risk of acquiring Lyme disease so we need to educate them to its dangers. Using the Internet makes learning fun as kids race to catch the ticks and to hear the story of Jack's camping trip and the 'vampire' ticks. Parents can learn from it, too."

"Learning should be fun for kids. It's particularly important when it comes to learning about diseases," said program designer Concetta Polonsky, a health educator at UMDNJ. "After watching the TickLES video and pretending to be a 'Tick Tackler,' children are equipped with the knowledge to help protect themselves from ticks and tick-borne diseases."
Acting under the auspices of an Environmental lymediseaseassociation.org/?s=tickles Protection Agency grant, UMDNJ compiled an expert team to develop the material and make it kid-friendly. LDA was a project collaborator and is hosting the video and game on its websitehttps://lymediseaseassociation.org/?s=tickles free to all.

"TickLES" is a new addition to the Lyme in Kids & Schools section of the website, which offers a variety of educational materials for schools, parents and children, including the "How a Tick Can Make You Sick" PowerPoint. The New Jersey-based national Lyme Disease Association, an all-volunteer national nonprofit 501(c)(3), dedicated to Lyme disease education, prevention, research, and patient support, is associated with 43 Lyme organizations nationwide, working together to make a difference for Lyme patients. LDA-funded studies have been acknowledged in 22 scientific peer review journals. LDA also offers the LymeAid 4 Kids program for children without insurance coverage.
